When you use SkinCareIQ, we may collect the following types of information:

  • Account information: Name and email address provided when creating an account via our authentication provider (Clerk).
  • Usage data: Ingredient searches, scan history, selected specialty/vertical, and feature interactions.
  • Technical data: Browser type, device information, IP address, and access timestamps for security and analytics purposes.
  • Payment information: Billing details are processed and stored by our payment provider (Stripe). We do not store credit card numbers directly.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the SkinCareIQ platform.
  • Maintain your scan history and account preferences.
  • Process subscription payments and manage billing.
  • Send transactional emails related to your account (e.g., billing receipts).
  • Monitor for abuse, fraud, and security incidents.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (PostgreSQL) with row-level security policies ensuring each user can only access their own data. We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest. Despite these measures, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

4. Third-Party Services

SkinCareIQ integrates with the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

  • Clerk — authentication and user management
  • Supabase — database and data storage
  • Stripe — payment processing
  • OpenAI — AI-assisted ingredient parsing (text submitted for scanning may be processed by OpenAI)
  • Vercel — hosting and infrastructure

5. Cookies

We use essential cookies required for authentication sessions and security. We do not currently use advertising or tracking cookies beyond what is necessary for the platform to function.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data and scan history for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us. Deleted accounts and associated data are permanently removed within 30 days.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, export, or delete your information. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the address below.

8. Children's Privacy

SkinCareIQ is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
